Every single notebook or desktop or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which interacts with the hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, together with any apps that are currently installed on the system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each app runs within the parameters defined by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This goes for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so that you will be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

In case you choose to go for one of our VPS server packages, you shall be able to opt for one of the three Linux distributions that we provide for the OS of the servers - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They are among the most widely used and most reliable server OSs out there and we offer them so that you have a choice for the software environment of your machine in case that you need to install some app with precise requirements regarding the packages that should be present on the web hosting server. We also offer three hosting Control Panels and which one of them you could use depends on the OS that you've chosen. We leave the possibility to replace the server Operating System open, so when you want to use an application that requires an OS different from the one that's already present, we can always reinstall the VPS. We can also keep the OS up-to-date weekly by installing all of the security updates which may be available.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to purchase one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a wider choice regarding the system environment on the machine as different applications may have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and risk-free hosting service. Based on your selection, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you have selected initially does not meet the requirements of the software which you'd like to run. We can also update the OS on a regular basis to keep it as secure as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
